School Discipline Parent Guide

This is a digital product - This guide is designed to provide you with the knowledge of how-to navigate the public school system in the State of California. Many times we are faced with some dire circumstances, as parents, striving to do what is best for our children. As discipline situations arise, things happen fast, laws are adhered to and it is easy to be lost or overwhelmed with the process, policies and procedures. The information within this text will show you the path to understand and overcome these obstacles. 

As you may know, we tend to only be contacted by the school once the student has been excluded from the educational process. My intention is to provide you with guidance to maneuver the rules, both written and unwritten, of the system and equip and empower you with the knowledge and confidence to advocate for your child.

The impact of disproportionate school discipline outcomes and consequences is a dilemma that has plagued education since its origin. Throughout my experiences in the school system I have witnessed numerous instances of students of color receiving different behavioral interventions than their white counterparts for the same offense. Having to bear witness to this is what has fueled my desire to compile this information for you.
